Swimming Pool Cinema

This installation is unique. The swimming pool is located in a three story house in the suburbs of regional city.

Projection Cinema for a swimming pool / sauna / jacuzzi / gym. One of the key remits of the project was to create a big screen cinema that could be experienced from all areas of the basement. Although it is an unusual environment it has been possible to implement a 5.1 surround sound cinema in the swimming pool which can be both watched and listened to from the sauna, jacuzzi and gym.

The screen is 11 foot wide in 16:9 format and was built using architrave and painted with matt black. Several coats of Screen Goo were used to create an almost damageless maintainable screen.

A small custom built box was recessed into the ceiling to get the projector out of any splash zones and arms reach while providing some protection from the environment.

The cinema has access to SKY HD, HDMI DVD, iPod, 12 radio stations, and is also connected to the audio video system providing (Channels 1-5 on freeview, Sky+, Sky box 2 and Sky box 3, DVD 1 and DVD 2) this offers massive flexibility without effecting the rest of the house.

The cinema area is operated by a fully customised Colour Pronto touch panel remote control (no other remotes are required). The control also independently operates music for the sauna, jacuzzi and gym.
